Brody In Action
This ones for you Wes! Here’s my boy Brody getting it at the beach a few minutes ago. If we say ‘beach’, he goes absolutely nuts; there’s nowhere else he’d rather be.

Here’s a lineup from yesterday framed by an old wooden fishing pier. It’s been such a fun run of surf. Hope it continues into the warmer Spring months.

My sunrise surf check revealed lackluster leftovers this morning. Watching the sun come up over the ocean is still a great way to start the day, even when the windchill’s in the low 30s. Decided to make use of the warm, morning light and play with all the new focusing features of my new 5Diii. Sandpipers are the ultimate test subjects. They’re one of the most erratic creatures and they’ll sneak right up on you. Canons def stepped it up from the 5dii. Still doesn’t compare to my other camera the 1D Mark 4. Here’s a few frames from my 15 minutes of crawling around in the sand shooting sandpipers. One of them finally felt comfortable enough at the end to pose for me.

Just purchased a 5D Mark 3. Really excited about it. Here’s a couple random photos taken while testing it out last couple days. Going to be a stellar wedding and portrait camera.

2013 wedding season is right around the corner. Annie and I are looking forward to our first wedding of the season in a couple weeks!

So stoked to have 2 spreads in the new issue of Surfing Magazine. One of which is my favorite surf photo to date! Jesse Hines standing tall in a giant lighthouse barrel with Joey Crum rooting him on from the shoulder. This is what East Coast surfing is all about baby! My phone has been blowing up with calls and texts from people claiming its the best surf photo they’ve ever seen from the east coast. Truly an honor! So much hard work, time, and dedication went into making this 2 page spread happen. Be sure to pick up a copy to see the other spread from Doomsday in Rodanthe and as always thanks for the support!

It could get pretty ugly next week as we are forecasted to get rocked by a nor’easter Wed-Fri. The sand dunes were no match for the surf on Wednesday morning in Rodanthe and Buxton and it wasn’t a significant storm event…can’t imagine what it will look like with a 15-20 foot swell and 40-50 mph north winds. There is an old wives tale that if you hear thunder in the winter months, you will see snow within 10 days…

We loved this wedding at the Croatan Ridge in Buxton. Amy was full of energy, Jeff was cool calm and collected. Perfect match. They were blessed with a fiery sunset on the sound and then danced the night away. We did a ‘Trash the Dress’ session at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse the following morning. Here’s a short preview.
