Waves for Days

The surf has been so fun for the last week or so. Lots of good sandbars from Kitty Hawk to the Lighthouse. Eyeballs are sunburned. I bought a new surfboard on Saturday. Falling in love with surfing again. Didn’t shoot much this swell, but planning to be on it next week. Covered the Ripcurl Gromsearch on Sunday for surfline…check out the feature here. The Atlantic is alive again! Yeww! Time to catch up on some work. Here’s a couple of Lucas Rogers..dude rips!

Home!

After a few weeks in Mexico and a week in California I am so glad to be home. Mexico was amazing and the FTL Ceremony in California was wonderful…very productive and inspiring. I didn’t win the award, but it was such an honor to be a finalist and be a part of the ceremony. Congrats to Morgan Maassen for the win. Ceremony coverage and the finalists slideshows are on surfline and surfingthemag.com. Here are a few moments from Mexico. Keep an eye out for more images in print. Colin sending fun surf for the weekend…check back!

Updates, Finally

It’s been a while since I updated my site…sorry everyone! Been very busy. Got married a few weeks ago to my best friend Ann Taylor and then we went on a honeymoon, I’ve had weddings, and am working on another website. Hopefully in the next month or so my new Matt Lusk Weddings website will be finished and I’ll get back to posting mainly surfing and landscape images on this site. I also found out last week that I’m a top 5 finalist for a very prestigious grant award called the Follow the Light in honor of legendary surf photographer Larry ‘Flame’ Moore. It is such an honor to just be in the top 5 as the grant is open to any surf photographer in the world to apply. Check the website here. Surfline will be posting a feature on the finalists soon. We haven’t had much in the way of surf lately, but there’s been enough to cruise on a longboard. I got a new camera in the other day and decided to play around with it last night. First surfing photos I’ve taken in over a month. Heading to Mexico Tuesday for 2 weeks with a solid crew of North Carolinian chargers. Can’t wait!

we really need some surf..
