About

My life pretty much revolves around light and wind..

I’m originally from Yorktown, Virginia, but I’ve been living in the Outer Banks since I graduated college in May 2006. I started making photos with a Sony point & shoot on an incredible solo surf trip to the Mentawais and East and West Australia March-July 2007.  It’s been an adventure and learning experience ever since.

For me, photography is making the most of the conditions and your equipment and striving for unique angles and composition. It takes a lot of time, money, dedication, experience, and a unique eye to distinguish yourself as a true surf photographer. I’ve been inspired by iconic photographers like: Aaron Chang, Mez, Servais, Brewer, Aichner, Struntz, Fitzy, Nevins, Jimmicaine, Burkard, and many more, and hope to be considered as an inspirational surf photographer in the future.

Surf photojournalism on the Outer Banks requires patience, commitment, and local knowledge as conditions resulting in print-worthy photographs are not a common occurrence. I keep a steady pulse on the latest model runs, weather forecasts, and where the best sandbars are on the island in order to be in the right place at the right time when it all comes together. The Outer Banks is a very special place and is my favorite place to be when it’s firing.

I contribute my work to Eastern Surf Magazine, Surf Carolina Magazine, Surfing Magazine, and Surfline.com.

I hope you enjoy my work. Please check back as I will continue to update the site regularly with new photos, wallpapers, featured photos, and featured sequences.
