Theres not much to this photograph. You may think its boring and that’s ok. I have a thing for simplicity and trees (and clouds) with interesting shapes. Here is 1 of the 4 photos I took tonight of the end to another beautiful day on the sandbar.

Here is the sportfishing boat ”Game On” on their way to the gulf stream during last years Pirates Cove Billfishing Tournament. If you’ve never been offshore fishing, I highly recommend it. Cruising at full speed into the wide open ocean amongst the fishing fleet with the sun coming up and the anticipation of catching something huge…doesn’t get much better. You never know what the day has in store for you at this point and its such a rush. The bluefin tuna will be showing up soon and I can’t wait to get back out there!!

It’s that time of year again when I have enough time to update my blog more frequently. Here’s another landscape image for ya…a bird’s eye view of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse with the 1st jetty in the foreground. Shot from a helicopter just after sunrise back in August. The ocean looked like a lake.

Temps dropping. Piers closing. Trout biting. Must be December.

I’ve found that photographing wildlife is a lot like photographing surf. Patience, commitment, understanding your subject, as well as the technical aspects of shooting moving subjects in changing lighting conditions are just a few of the similarities. I am a rookie when it comes to shooting wildlife, but plan on putting in more time and taking advantage of all the Outer Banks has to offer. Went down to Pea Island this morning to photograph birds and ended up getting this photo, which I liked more than the snow geese images I got. While hiding in the brush waiting for flock of snow geese to fly over, I turned and saw 3 otters cruising along the shoreline and one of them had breakfast. He swam up to the bank and ate the fish in a few bites.
