I’ve found that photographing wildlife is a lot like photographing surf. Patience, commitment, understanding your subject, as well as the technical aspects of shooting moving subjects in changing lighting conditions are just a few of the similarities. I am a rookie when it comes to shooting wildlife, but plan on putting in more time and taking advantage of all the Outer Banks has to offer. Went down to Pea Island this morning to photograph birds and ended up getting this photo, which I liked more than the snow geese images I got. While hiding in the brush waiting for flock of snow geese to fly over, I turned and saw 3 otters cruising along the shoreline and one of them had breakfast. He swam up to the bank and ate the fish in a few bites.
