Our State Magazine: Bonner Bridge

Honored to have a few of my images in the newest issue of Our State Magazine, which features ”Our Prettiest Places, 7 stunning spots that make your jaw drop”. One of which is the Bonner Bridge on highway 12. It is my first publication in Our State so I’m pretty excited to begin working with them and contributing my work to such a fine magazine. I’ve had a few requests from folks wanting to purchase a print of the aerial image, so I uploaded it to my online print store. Click here to view and purchase.

B&W Randomness

Today is a black and white kinda day. Here’s a few completely random B&W photos.

THE Outer Banks Christmas House

”We started decorating on August 4th and we’ve been decorating every day since Saturday”. Talk about dedication. And they’ve been doing this for 30 years. No wonder they were voted ‘America’s Best Christmas Lights’ and were featured on the Todays Show in 2005. Here’s a couple photos I grabbed tonight. They don’t really do it justice. Wish I would’ve had a wider angle lens with me. Check out this house if you haven’t yet. It’s back in Ocean Acres on the way to Nags Head Woods. Def worth visiting, especially if you have kids. Happy Holidays everyone!

Megan & Cory

Been a while since I posted wedding photos or updates. I have to admit, its really nice having a separate wedding website I don’t feel like I have to update it every other day like I do with this blog. Sometimes I get tired of updating the blog. Esp when I have much more important things to do like design wedding albums, get ready for wedding expo coming up in a few weeks, get back to brides in a timely fashion, and shoot photos for local businesses brochures and websites. And surf when there’s waves  of course. But i like to keep people stoked  and showcase my work, so i try to update when i can. Anyways I just added a new featured wedding to my wedding website….the marriage of Megan & Cory back in October at Jenettes Pier, which is right up there with my favorite places to shoot! Here is just one moment from the wedding…Megan jamming on the bongo drum. First time seeing a bride playing bongo drums at her wedding…pretty awesome! I posted over 150 images on my wedding website so check it out. Maybe that’s too many photos, but I figure its better to post a bunch than just a few like most people do. Click here to view the photos.

Leftovers

Anticipated head high and perfect waves at sunrise on Friday.  Thursday evening was overhead and swell was forecasted to hold for friday morning with better winds and the incoming tide was a bonus. surfed all afternoon thursday and was wishing i had my camera to swim around and shoot in the water as the evening light was gorgeous and great waves were coming in. ”missing it” is good thing for motivation. but i had my hopes up too high for friday. Alarm set for 530. at first light the surf was a major letdown. gotta stop checking forecasts so much. easy to do on the ec. half the size i was hoping for and poor shape. got a little better with tide push but still not very good, and nothing like the evening before. jesse is getting hip replacement surgery on monday so this was his last surf session for at least 6 months. felt good to swim around and get a few photos of him during his last session for a while. ready for a big north swell with winter juice!

Joey Crum, Mainland Mexico 2010

Here is a photo I took last year at a very remote beach in Mainland Mexico. It’s one of my good friends Joey Crum leaning into a perfect wave just after sunrise. He’s probably wishing his board was a foot or so longer at this point. One of the few guys I know that charges the big heavy surf on any size and shape surfboard.
