Melissa & Jason Engagement

The 25 mph winds made our engagement shoot a little tricky, but we made the most of it. We’re really looking forward to Melissa and Jason’s wedding at Jenettes Pier in August.

Citation White Marlin

Went offshore fishing on Monday with my dad and brother out of Virginia Beach. We were hoping to catch some yellowfin tuna and dolphin. We drove out about 70 miles offshore to the Norfolk Canyon. Caught a few dolphin in the morning and were starting to troll our way back towards home when a really nice white marlin swam into our spread and hit the flatline. After we hooked up on him he went crazy, jumping out of the water about 5 times trying to spit the bait. He ran so hard he almost spooled our reel and I jumped up to the wheel and drove the boat towards the fish to gain some line back. My brother fought him for 40 minutes and we landed it. It was our first marlin. We actually thought it was a small blue marlin and later confirmed it was a citation white. A beautiful day on the water and a memory we’ll never forget.

My dog loves to swim and chase after a tennis ball. And apparently he looks like a shark sometimes.

Light Show

Pretty crazy storm moved in yesterday evening. I was finishing up an engagement shoot on the beach when I noticed the sky was starting to look pretty dark. A few min later a wall of some of the scariest looking clouds I’ve ever seen was almost right over top of us. I took a few silhouette photos of them in a slight panic mode but managed to get a few good ones then we ran back to the house before the rain and lighting hit. After the lightning storm moved through the sky lit up. Ran down to the beach for a self portrait. It was a beautiful evening for sure.

Summer’s Here

Yesterday marked the beginning of summer…my least favorite season of the year. This is what it feels like to me on land and in the water.

Bongos & Barrels

So I was actually motivated to shoot some surf yesterday evening. After driving around a bit we ended up at a break in KH. When I got over the dune I noticed a couple people playing bongo drums and thought hey thats pretty cool. A few minutes later there were like 10 people gathered around playing bongos. It was quite an interesting mix of people and something I hadn’t seen before here. Then there were hula hoopers and dancers. I thought I was losing my mind. I ended up just sitting there watching and taking a few photos of the group. Went south early this morning and caught a few fun waves and swam out for a bit. It was pretty fun. So here’s a post with bongo drummers and barrels.

1 Year

My wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary yesterday. Amazing how fast time flies. We decided to start a tradition of taking a family photo on every anniversary, so we set up the tripod and grabbed a photo before our dinner at the Pearl where we got married. I am so lucky to have such a beautiful wife! Contact us if you want a young, fun husband and wife team to photograph your wedding.
