Lauren & Mike Engagement

It’s been about 5 years since I graduated from college. I studied Biology and Chemistry and had nooo idea I would ever become a photographer. Lauren and I were in a lot of the same science classes in college and I never in a million years thought I would have the pleasure of being her wedding photographer. It’s funny how life works like that. Anyways, Lauren and her fiance Mike came down last weekend to meet with vendors for their wedding, check out Jennettes Pier, and do an engagement shoot. They are getting married at Jennettes in the Spring of next year and we are thrilled to photograph their wedding. Here are a few from the shoot. We enjoyed incorporating Mike’s ”No Regrets” tattoo into a few of the images.

ESPN, Turning the Corner Gallery

Few photos from the run of surf we’ve had over the last month or so on ESPN. Click on the grab to view.

Caught the tail end of a t-storm out over the ocean first thing this AM. Hopefully another round this afternoon.

Ready for More

Saw this dog the other day in the back of a truck waiting for its owner. Had to take a photo. Look at that face! He didn’t appear to notice me even though I was 4 ft away.

Much Needed Beatings

Hadn’t shot a photo from the water in over 4 months. Saw some heavy lil shorebreak today and couldn’t resist. Would’ve been the ultimate body surfing waves. Felt great to take a few beatings and be in the surf with my camera again. Quite liberating. Was like a kid on Christmas morning. Still getting sand out of places it shouldn’t be.

C Mac @ Avys

Went up to Avalon yesterday evening to check out the sunset. I was fishing the evening before and didn’t get a chance to photograph some of the most beautiful evening light I’ve seen in a while. There was a rainbow and warm vivid light against dark ominous sky. Was feeling pretty guilty about not having my camera in the boat when I was fishing, but its nice to just enjoy the moment sometimes rather than photograph it. Anyways, it looked like the sky was going to be pretty cool again so I brought my camera to Avalon. Soon as the sun dipped below the clouds and just before setting, the sky lit up. I called Chris McDonald to come meet me at the pier to shoot a few sillouettes. The surf was nonexistent, so I had to hide the ocean and make it look like he was going to surf. A fam from Kentucky was at the pier and saw us shooting. The father came up to us freaking out about Chris being a pro shredder. Next thing I knew Chris was signing autographs. Livin the dream! Here’s a few photos from our 10 minute Avalon session. Couple kinda cool fakeouts. Wish I had my flash. Thanks for bein my pro surfer model C Macdaddy.

Bass Fishin With Pops

My pops and I spent our Sunday bass fishin on the Pasquotank and Perquimans Rivers. Always nice spending a day on the water with your ol man. Other than a few rain showers, the weather was great and ideal for fishing. The Pasquotank has to be one of the bassiest looking rivers..so many trees, sunken barges, and lilly pads. Some people ask why I bass fish when I don’t keep the fish and eat them. Well, its not as much about the fish…its the outdoor experience. Going 70 mph on a boat, being miles from any other humans, seeing an abundance of wildlife and really cool looking trees, listening to country music while you fish, and just being rednecks are just a few of the things that make bass fishing fun. Catching a 6 pounder makes it that much better of course.

Yeaa, the speedometer on top left says 68.4 mph. Gettn It!

Gottem!
