San Diego Wanderings..Part 1
Just returned from 5 days in San Diego. One of my best friends graduated from Navy Seal training on Friday so me and 3 other best friends flew out there to watch the graduation and celebrate. We had a blast…some pretty classic stories I won’t get into. We did manage to fit in a trip to the zoo in between celebrations. We had to cover the whole zoo (The zoo is HUGE!) in 2 hrs cause we didn’t realize the zoo was closing so early. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to see some of the animals and I only had about 30 seconds at each cage to take photos. I couldve spent a month in the zoo observing the animals and people watching. I wanna to go back and allow at least one full day there. I’ve never really been a fan of taking animals out of the wild and putting them in cages for millions of people to stare at all day every day (unless they are endangered), but it was a really cool experience. I took a few different approaches to photographing the animals..1) as if they are in the wild 2)photograph the miserable looking animals in their cages and 3) a more pulled back perspective showing the visitors and the animals..the bigger picture. Once my other friends had flown back home on Sunday, I had a day to wander around San Diego with my camera and 50 mm lens. Rode bike around SD bay harbor. So many bums. All in all it was a great trip. Glad to be home. Didn’t shoot too much because the trip was not about me, but I did shoot a few photos and will be posting a few part series. Check back.
