When the wind went westerly on Saturday, a certain spot offered some of the heavier waist to shoulder high barrels I’ve seen in a while. This secretive, slabbing sandbar broke quite a few boards and sent a number of people home in pain. Here’s a few from the session.
**Just added a new featured photo and featured sequence.**
Where else can you watch the most beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and moonrises in the world?
- can you share a perfect peak with only a few friends?
- can you get barreled from sun-up to sun-down, in your backyard?
- has some of the best fishing in the world, year-round?
- has an abundance of terrestrial and marine wildlife?
- can you hang-glide or fly a kite from one of the largest sand-dunes in the world?
- does it snow in the winter and temps can reach 100 in the summer?
- has the most rad, relaxed, and caring people you’ll ever meet?
- does ‘life’ revolve around the wind?
- I could go on forever…
…there is nowhere else.
My life’s about to change…a lot. I’m pursuing photography full-time and will no longer be working as a Research Technician after April 20th. The Outer Banks is one of the most special and beautiful places in the world and offers far more than just perfect waves…and I’m going to show you. I’ll be making photos of everything from weddings to wildlife, surfing to cityscapes…and I can’t wait. I’m dedicating my life to documenting the Outer Banks experience, so expect more photo posts with more variety…and feedback is greatly appreciated.
Here’s a few photos I made last night of a different familly of ospreys near Jockey’s Ridge. (This is honestly a different day and location than the sunset image in my last post.) Couldn’t help but stop and shoot the giant orange moon rising over the ocean, too. Enjoy.
